Majorstuen has played close to 300 concerts in 20 countries and has, through their explorative and playful stage presence, set a new standard with regard to how folk music can be conveyed to a broad audience. Now they are on the road again with a brand new performance - SKRIBLE!
It is not often Morgan Kane, Kristin Lavransdatter, Per Waglen and Lensmann Geissler are mentioned in the same sentence. But when the five musicians and composers in Majorstuen were challenged to use literature as an inspiration for new music, they decided to use the full range, from modern entertainment literature to classics. With that as a starting point, they have created a performance in which visual, choreographic and textual devices frame the music in a clever and humorous way. After 17 years on the concert stage, Majorstuen shows that they can deliver an innovative, solid and creative product with an unmistakably "Majorstuen" signature.
For Majorstuen, fiddle playing and traditional folk music aesthetics will always underpin their arrangements and compositions. But they are also inspired by the music that surrounds us all in everyday life, and by qualities from other styles and genres. Therefore, music created by Majorstuen is something unique. These are five performers with strong personal voices meeting in a dynamic composers’ collective.
